drive safely

If you're like me, you're pretty eager to read a text message once you hear the sound you programmed your phone to make at the notification of a text.

I've known a few people who have gotten in accidents because they were either reading or responding to a text message, and we've all heard of or know people who have died from texting or from someone else who was texting. About a month ago a commercial came on tv about the last words someone wrote - which was a text message. After the commercial, Tom and I vowed - like in the way you do when you get married - that we wouldn't text and drive.

Something that you can do to aide self control, no matter what kind of phone you have, is to turn off the alerts for text messages. If you're not able to control the sound for messages, then just put your phone on silent. This has definitely helped me - because when I used to hear that I have a message - I'd just have to look at whatever was being texted to me because I just had to know. It's kind of like when you're pregnant and can't eat sushi - well now all of a sudden the only thing you want to eat is sushi because you've been told not to do it. So, don't text and drive. It's not worth it.
