when home is work

So the good thing about working from home is that it's just here - I don't have to go anywhere - can work late at night if I want to or early in the morning. I don't have to "clock in" or "check in" with anyone. I can wear my jammies and not shower if I so choose. I'm the boss - I do what I want. It's awesome.
{if you've been around for a while, you'll notice that the photos that needed changing over a year ago are still needing to be changed - don't worry - it's on my to-do list}

The bad thing about working from home is that it's just here - there's no getting away from it unless I leave. I sometimes work at 11 at night or start sewing at 6 in the morning when I should be sleeping. There's no one to check in with, and so I tend to overwork because that's what I do. Because I'm the boss, there's no one to tell me to go home or stop. It's not so awesome.

I'm learning that if I'm going to pull of this work from home mom thing, I need to schedule my day as if it's a work day - and stop working at a reasonable time each day. Take a day off. Rest on the Sabbath. This is my first week in attempt to manage/organize my time better so that I'm not working all the time {don't worry, Simon is still getting fed and taken care of, he might just need someone to come over and clean his ears}.

As difficult as it's been, I've loved being able to be home. If I weren't, I'd miss things like Simon going cross-eyed because he's so focused on his newly discovered hands.
{and YES, he can totally read already}

  1. too cute! great blog and fun to hear updates on life with you and your family. I think it's great you are staying home to be with your son. A decision that you and your husband will never regret and your family will reap many wonderful rewards from. I also think it's great you are working to figure out a good work from home schedule for your crafts you are selling. Very cool. Hope you are getting in some rest time today and cuddling up that sweet little guy:)

I love comments. It's like getting mail.
