summer reading and a giveaway

I've been on a reading hiatus for quite some time now. It doesn't make sense, I know. As an English teacher I should love anything with words.

I think the fact that I spent 4 years in college {and the year of grad school} reading for my English and history classes drained my desire to read. I read A LOT. So much that I don't think I ever really processed what I was reading/learning because at one time I might be reading 6-9 novels/poetry anthologies {we're not talking Nicholas Sparks here}.

So here I am, wanting to read and dragging my fingertips to flip the pages. I'm already having such a hard time managing my time that I might just call this fall reading instead of summer reading. I've set a mental goal to try to read for at least 15 minutes a day {so far I have failed at the attempt - but I'm hopeful}.
the elephant whisperer - a novel my mom said I'd enjoy
wild things: the art of nurturing boys - a book about raising boys
the heart of prayer - book for Bible study
the complete financial guide for young couples - trying to find how to live on a better budget

If you're feeling lucky on this Wednesday, you might want to hop on over to Six Sisters' Stuff and enter a giveaway for an owl pillow and a $10 store credit. I first found their blog on pinterest and made a chicken crock pot recipe. I believe you have a week to enter the giveaway, click on the link below to read all about it and enter:
