quail hunt and bringing in the new year

The only thing that was not appropriate for this quail hunt was my attire. If only I had on a hoop-skirt-dress and a large sun hat with an umbrella - it would have been perfect. Henry, Tom, Tyler, & David were ready to hunt.

Here is Henry with his prize. Not quite big enough to mount.

Tyler with his prize.

I've been playing around with an editing program - maybe I smugged this one a bit too much - but I still like it. My studly husband being a hunter.

The girls were also of course enjoying their time on the jeep.

The boys again:

Driving through the pines was delightful.

I loved having friends at the farm: both old and new. I started racking my brain and couldn't believe that I've known Aubrey for eight years now.

Have I mentioned how perfect the weather was? Perfect for the quail hunt - not hot - not cold - just right. The weather was also perfect for an afternoon jeep ride to Proposal Point. Perfect for a fire outside and fireworks at midnight. And the good weather lasted just l-o-n-g enough for the girls to take a walk on Saturday morning.

Tom showed off all the training he's been doing with Agnes.

She was compliant and showed off for us. I hope I'll be this proud of our human children one day.

We even spotted the eagle that resides on the farm. In just 3 weeks - the eagles will lay their eggs.

This party was made complete with the festive facial tattoos.

We 'Just Danced' until it was time for New Year's Fireworks.

Happy New Year!
