One of the things on my list of things to do this summer is to sew something; this desire to sew came before Tom and I decided we were going to try NOT to buy any clothes for the next year. I guess it would be June 2010 to June 2011. This decision came after we had a closet makeover 2 weeks ago - everything was folded - washed - and each item had a home in the closet. We realized that we DO NOT need any clothes. We're not going to be ultra conservatives and not buy anything - the "rules" to the "no clothes" thing is that it does not include shoes (woohoo), and we're going to put $20 in an envelope each month for socks and unmentionables that we might need. I also am allowed to make my own clothes and we are able to accept clothes from people (hint hint to the moms). I guess another reason for not buying clothes is that we're trying to be super savers for seminary and the poorness we'll experience for the next 4 years. I'm trying to get into the coupon thing - but that's a blog post for another day.
Sew.... here is the first item I've made. The pattern cost 3.44 and the fabric cost me 3 bucks - it was only $1.50 a yard! So - pretty cute dress for about $7.50. I'm ok with that. The pattern said you can make it in 2 hours - but it took me about 4. Thanks mama for teaching me how to sew!
Don't confuse me for this little girl:
Also - while I was pinning the top part of the dress - I thought about how wonderful it would be to stay home all day and craft - then I thought that what I do is not just crafting and that sewing is considered a "project." I pondered what one might call someone who does an array of projects - and the obvious answer was a projector. I looked it up at dictionary.com and projector is correct. Who knew.
